Turmeric is the most effective nutritional supplement in existence. It is one of the ancient ingredients used in India for thousands of years. It has special compounds with medicinal properties called curcuminoids. In this, the most important one is curcumin. The researchers of UCLA, California had proved in a study that consuming curcumin twice daily can improve the memory and also sort out age-related and early-age problems.

Studies had already proved that curcumin has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and wound-healing properties. In addition to it, it was used as a home remedy to cure arthritis, cardiac, cancer, and other medical conditions. A study published online in the American Journal Geriatric Psychiatry had witnessed that the researchers had already proved the effects of curcumin.

The curcumin supplement had improved the memory performance of the people without dementia and also with the people affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Likewise, many types of research had been made with curcumin to know about its health benefits.

A research was made to know whether curcumin had anti-depression effect with 132 people aged between 50-90. It includes people with mild depression. At the end of the study, it was proved that the people who consumed 30mg of curcumin had shown less evidence of decline. Similarly, the researchers Michael A Walters and Guido F Pauli had teamed up to get the root of curcumin’s medicinal chemistry. It was proved that curcumin can reduce brain inflammation linked to Alzheimer’s disease and major depression. A research was done by Gary Small, director of geriatric psychiatry at UCLA’s Longevity Center for people aged between 50 and 90 years with mild memory complaints. Those people were given by 90mg of curcumin twice daily for 18 months and noticed with the improvements in memory. It had proved that memory and mood were improved for the people.

The memory and emotional functions are managed in the two brain regions such as amygdala and hypothalamus. We should know the beneficial effects of turmeric which we are using in our daily lifestyle activities and should use it to boost our healthy life.
